Stretch films
Stretch films are elastic adhesive films made of polyethylene or PVC. Such films are used mainly for the automated packaging of foodstuffs, as they have a high elongation at break of from 150% to over 500%.
When choosing the right type of film, you should always look at machine compatibility, as well as at the migration limits for the product to be packaged.
The use of film containing PVC has the great advantages of high tear strength, good machine compatibility, and optical transparency. However, the use of softening agents means that, depending on the proportion used, migration to the product cannot be ruled out.
Alternatively, stretch wrap made of polyolefin has established itself on the market in recent years; however, this can still occasionally lead to problems with settings, particularly on older machines.
